Once again friends I have to apologize for how long it has taken me to write again! I had my first meeting with my running group last week, and it was great! It was great to connect with a group of people all working toward the same goal. The group is great – everyone is super nice, and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone. That first night, we went out for an easy-paced 2 mile run. One thing I’m going to have to get used to is our coach has banned the use of headphones while we run together. Now, in the past, I have not been one who talks while running, but according to my coach, that’s going to change! She says that running is a social activity, and if you have headphones in, you can’t talk! (Not to mention, it can be a safety issue when running on the road.)
For this program, the coach has developed a full training plan. We meet on Wednesdays for hill and/or speed workouts, and Saturdays are easy paced for distance. By the end of this training program, I should be able to run 8 to 9 miles! All I need to do now is sign up for the 10k that we’re training for!
Like I said in my New Year’s Goals post, running a 10k has been on my list of New Year’s goals/resolutions for the past couple of years, so I’m super excited to actually be training for it again. And the accountability of a group is going to make reaching that goal so much easier.
In other news, part of the reason why I haven’t had the chance to write is because I’m moving! In two weeks!! The past couple of weeks have been crazy hectic, trying to get everything in order. April is like this pretty much every year. You’d think I’d get used to it, but it’s a whirlwind every year.
