Recently, I’ve had a couple people ask me about / ask for advice on a couple of diets that are popular at the moment. Having tried a couple of these diets myself, I’m always happy to talk about them and relate my experience with them.
(To save you all from boredom, I’m splitting this story up into multiple posts.) Continue reading “Restrictive Eating”
I got my first CSA share this week! I am super excited about having this all summer and fall!! This week, in my share, I got: 1 head of butter lettuce, 1 head of bok choi, 1 head of tatsoi, a bunch of kale, a bunch of rainbow Swiss chard, scallions, oregano, and garlic scapes. Holy smokes. Guys. It’s so much food, and it’s so delicious! Continue reading “CSA”
Oh, spaghetti squash! I only recently have realized how awesome you really are. A little history: for some silly reason, when I saw one of my roommates in college cook spaghetti squash and put pasta sauce on it, I thought it was so weird. (Sorry Meredith, I realize now I was being stupid.) Couldn’t tell you why I thought that, maybe it was my college-athlete, carb-filled brain just wanting the “real thing” I guess. How silly I was. So I think I’ve come to a breaking point.
After the test results from the doctor said I was totally normal, while I was upset that I didn’t have an answer, I was relieved that everything is “normal” when it comes to hormones. While there might be nothing wrong with my hormones, there is definitely something wrong. Without too many gross details, I pretty much dread every time I have to go to the bathroom, because who knows how long I’ll be stuck there, waiting to go. Or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, my stomach could just turn and I’ll end up running for the bathroom, without any idea of why my stomach is so upset. This usually happens to me after a long run, and it’s horribly uncomfortable. Imagine being 3 miles into a 5 mile run, and suddenly, you have an urge to go. Yeah, it’s pretty much the WORST feeling.

As promised from my Instagram account (@journeytoloving.me), here is the post of the BEST one pan meals I picked up while doing Whole30. This is easily one of my favorite go-to dishes, and it comes together in under half an hour! This is another one that is super easy and customizable. I have been making this for awhile, and the recipe below is how I’ve enjoyed making it lately, but of course, feel free to customize it as you choose!
Without any further ado: Continue reading “Turkey, Kale and Sweet Potato Bowl”
While reading the Whole30 book today, I found that my favorite part is the “what you’ll probably experience over the 30 days.” I noticed that I have followed the pattern (a little) that is laid out in the book. In it, it says probably around days 12-15, you will dream about food.
YUP. I dreamt about food on about day 15. and not even food I have all that often! I dreamt about ice cream. You know, when you get a brand new container, and the first scoop is always so satisfying to take? Yeah, THAT was what I dreamt about. Thankfully, that was only one night. Otherwise, no dreaming of food. Continue reading “Whole30 – Week 3”
So week 2 has been even better than week 1 was. I realized that the problem I had last week with running was in fact, a problem of not enough fuel. I went running on Wednesday night, and had more fuel to prepare for it.
