One of the main reasons I started this blog was actually to document the struggle I’ve had with acne over the years. I’ve mentioned before, I’ve had acne since I was 11 years old, and now, as an adult, suffering from cystic acne still, I have been trying every solution I can find.  Long story short, after trying goodness knows how many different face washes and acne treatments you find in a store (with no long-term success) I decided to try natural products.  That led me to learning about essential oils, which then led me down another path toward overall healthy living.  And here we are! Well… poop.

So I think I’ve come to a breaking point.

After the test results from the doctor said I was totally normal, while I was upset that I didn’t have an answer, I was relieved that everything is “normal” when it comes to hormones. While there might be nothing wrong with my hormones, there is definitely something wrong. Without too many gross details, I pretty much dread every time I have to go to the bathroom, because who knows how long I’ll be stuck there, waiting to go. Or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, my stomach could just turn and I’ll end up running for the bathroom, without any idea of why my stomach is so upset.  This usually happens to me after a long run, and it’s horribly uncomfortable.  Imagine being 3 miles into a 5 mile run, and suddenly, you have an urge to go.  Yeah, it’s pretty much the WORST feeling.

Turkey, Kale and Sweet Potato Bowl

As promised from my Instagram account (@journeytoloving.me), here is the post of the BEST one pan meals I picked up while doing Whole30.  This is easily one of my favorite go-to dishes, and it comes together in under half an hour!  This is another one that is super easy and customizable.  I have been making this for awhile, and the recipe below is how I’ve enjoyed making it lately, but of course, feel free to customize it as you choose!

What’s going on…

Disclaimer, right up front: this topic is a bit tough for me to talk about and it’s a little fresh in my mind, but I knew I wanted to write about it, because it’s a huge step on my path to wellness.  Please keep that in mind if you decide to read on.

Earlier this week, I went to the doctor for an annual check up.  This was a new doctor (new job, new insurance, yay!) so we had to go through medical history and all that.  We came to a question that I honestly don’t even remember now.  But I brought up my on going issues with acne.   Continue reading “What’s going on…”
