Traveling with Food Intolerances

Everyone can agree – traveling, especially planning travel, can be really stressful. Add on the stress of dealing with a food intolerance or two, and you could end up dreading travel. Fear not my fellow food intolerant friends! After traveling for the past two weeks, I’ve realized that it’s actually not that bad – and I wanted to share my tips for making the most of vacation without sacrificing your health. Is this thing on?

Hi friends ūüôā

It’s been much too long since we’ve chatted, and that’s all me. It’s been a bit of a hectic year for my health, and it’s been hard to get motivated to write here. But instead of giving myself too hard a time about it, I figured no better time than now to connect with you all again! Continue reading “Is this thing on?”

GI Update

A couple weeks ago now, I had my colonoscopy and upper endoscopy procedure, and I have received the results from the biopsies and all that was done that day. With mixed emotions, I report that everything has one back as normal from that procedure. Much like the last time I had tests done, I didn’t really want to have any of the illnesses I was being tested for. But I was really hoping for some sort of answers or diagnosis so I could have a starting point to start getting better. At the moment, I’m happy that I don’t have a chronic issue to treat, but I’m back at square one again, and I’m just tired. Continue reading “GI Update”

Well, poop (Part 2)

I’ve been stalling writing this post, mostly because I’m pretty nervous.¬† I mentioned before that I finally got an appointment with a GI doctor (thanks for the recommendations, I ended up choosing one you guys suggested to me that was within my insurance network!) and had my appointment a few weeks ago, just after getting back from Scotland. Traveling Europe!

For those who don’t follow me on Instagram (you totally should, btw @journeytoloving.me), last week, I got back from a 2 week adventure through Scotland! As a military brat, I lived there when I was really young (we left when I was 3 years old), and this year there was a reunion for people who were stationed there, so my mom said “let’s do it!” ¬†We stayed in a cute little fishing town on the east coast of Scotland, not far from where we had lived before, and took day trips to see the sights we had done 20+ years ago. ¬†And the best part? ¬†We ate. ¬†A LOT. ¬† Continue reading “Traveling Europe!”

CSA

I got my first CSA share this week! I am super excited about having this all summer and fall!! This week, in my share, I got: 1 head of butter lettuce, 1 head of bok choi, 1 head of tatsoi, a bunch of kale, a bunch of rainbow Swiss chard, scallions, oregano, and garlic scapes. Holy smokes. Guys. It’s so much food, and it’s so delicious! Continue reading “CSA”

Well… poop.

So I think I’ve come to a breaking point.

After the test results from the doctor said I was totally normal, while I was upset that I didn’t have an answer, I was relieved that everything is “normal” when it comes to hormones. While there might be nothing wrong with my hormones, there is definitely something wrong. Without too many gross details, I pretty much dread every time I have to go to the bathroom, because who knows how long I’ll be stuck there, waiting to go. Or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, my stomach could just turn and I’ll end up running for the bathroom, without any idea of why my stomach is so upset. ¬†This usually happens to me after a long run, and it’s horribly uncomfortable. ¬†Imagine being 3 miles into a 5 mile run, and suddenly, you have an urge to go. ¬†Yeah, it’s pretty much the WORST feeling.
