Charles St. 12

Hey friends!! I have no excuses this time around. Sorry for neglecting you!

Earlier this month, I completed the Charles St. 12 race! This race was one of my goals for a very long time – if you had asked me in March if I were to be running it, I would have said, “HA, yeah, right.” I am still kind of amazed I finished it! I had thought about this race for the past two years as a goal race to shoot for and now, I’m so proud of myself for having done it! (And having signed up for next year!) Injury

Well, friends. It finally happened. I hurt my foot the other day while out for a 5-mile run. I’m not really sure how it happened, but I was out running, and felt a little twinge in my foot, but kept running anyway. It went away, so I figured it was nothing. That night, I was walking around town, and my foot hurt, but again, I just figured it was because I had run in the morning, and I was wearing flat sandals. On the next day, I went out for a 2-mile run, and when I got home, I could hardly walk it hurt so much. Continue reading “Injury”

Training Group (& News!)

Once again friends I have to apologize for how long it has taken me to write again!  I had my first meeting with my running group last week, and it was great!  It was great to connect with a group of people all working toward the same goal.  The group is great – everyone is super nice, and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone.  That first night, we went out for an easy-paced 2 mile run.  One thing I’m going to have to get used to is our coach has banned the use of headphones while we run together.  Now, in the past, I have not been one who talks while running, but according to my coach, that’s going to change!  She says that running is a social activity, and if you have headphones in, you can’t talk!  (Not to mention, it can be a safety issue when running on the road.) So it’s been a couple weeks since I made my declaration to run a half marathon this year.  And I haven’t made too much progress toward that goal like I had said I was going to…

Then I got a very timely email from a local running store, Charm City Run, that was advertising their training running groups.  One of these training groups was targeted for a 10k taking place on June 4th.  I figured this was perfect.  If I complete this 10k, then I can start the training for a half marathon I want to do in October.
